Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for Teens

More intensive than outpatient treatment, less immersive than inpatient hospitalization.

Our teen IOP is designed to meet the unique needs of teens 11-17 with mental health issues that impact their potential at school, with family, with friends, at work, and in the community. We help teens and families find balance, restore healthy relationships, improve communication, and build a solid foundation for future success.

Safe and Nurturing Environment + Evidence-Based Care = Teen Transformation

We give teens a safe space to learn about themselves, express themselves, and discover who they want to be, how they want to live, and what they want to get out of life. Everyone has their own vision of what a healthy, happy, productive future looks like. We take the time to allow our adolescent patients to discover that for themselves.

When an adult tells a teen what to think, how to act, and who to be, it almost never works.

During adolescence, the process of differentiation – establishing an individual identity unique and distinct from parents or primary role models/caregivers – is of crucial importance. We help teens with mental health challenges navigate this process in an honest, authentic, productive manner. We remind them they don’t have to rush to adulthood: part of growing up is finding and celebrating the joys of life while learning to navigate the lows.

The BACA Difference: Structured Step-Down Ensures Continuity of Care

We offer a unique stepdown service that’s unlike a typical teen IOP. We’ve designed a seamless, gradual transitional method to help teens transition from intensive therapy back to routine, daily life. We understand the importance of continuous, uninterrupted care and support.

Our stepdown services bridge the gap. We prioritize the ongoing stability and wellbeing of our patients as they transition out of IOP.

Transitional services typically include regular sessions with BACA psychiatrists and/or therapists, who exclusively serve our IOP alumni. We provide supervision and continuity of care while teens step down from a structured program. This allows us to monitor their progress and quickly intervene if things start to unravel. We treat them at this level of care until we’re confident in their ability to transition to outside community providers. The length of care in Transitional Outpatient services is based on individual needs, but typically lasts 60-120 days.
