I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Prior to joining BACA, I worked as a therapist in the Campbell Union School District. I supported children who experienced anxiety, anger, loss, and a myriad of other challenges that made it difficult for them to succeed academically and socially in school. It was my greatest privilege to earn a child's trust, especially when their previous life experiences had made them wary, and to use that trust to help them heal. I have also worked with couples and families, and gifted/twice-exceptional individuals.
As a therapist, my approach is interactive and strengths-based. I believe that you, the client, are the expert on your life, and come with many inherent resources. But we all get stuck sometimes and, as a therapist, I hope to provide a non- judgemental space for you to clarify goals, get insights, and process life challenges.
I grew up in India, and after getting my degree in Psychology, came to the US for "just a one-year fellowship" at Mt.Holyoke College in Massachusetts. The 'one year' stretched into a Master's degree in Education at the University of Rochester in upstate New York, a cross-country trip to get away from the cold, and putting down roots in California. I worked for over a decade as an Instructional Designer, creating curriculum for systems engineers and sales personnel at various companies, including Apple and Sun Microsystems. After raising a young family and volunteering in the public school system for a number of years, I got a second Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, and I now use my experience to support families going through various life stages.
When I'm not at work, you'll find me pandering to a cat that owns me, hiking, or glued to tennis-on-TV four times a year, when the Grand Slams are on. I love writing and I am a freelance writer for a local Indian magazine when the whim strikes me.
