Marriage & Family Therapy Intern
I am excited to be a member of the BACA team! I was born and raised in Michigan and have been enjoying life in the Bay Area for the last five years. I have a deep curiosity for what makes people “tick” and the forces that shape our relationships and choices. I was raised in a large family with many cultural traditions. This feature of my upbringing gave me a deep appreciation for diversity and a passion for honoring diversity within each family and the larger societal context.
I received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Wayne State University and a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology with a focus in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy at California State University – East Bay. Additionally, I am a certified Yoga teacher and Reiki practitioner.
I have had the privilege to work in community mental health for over 13 years in many different roles. I am currently an MFT intern IMF85549 and I am supervised by Karin Schlanger. I have worked with a wide range of ages, settings and presenting problems. Most recently, I held a position as a school counselor in two different schools in East Palo Alto for preK-12th grade. Additionally, I currently work at the Mental Research Institute providing family therapy in Palo Alto.
I know from first-hand experience that therapy can be a challenging process and we all need a safe space to talk from time to time. My approach is holistic, interactional and evidence-based. I strive to create a warm, pragmatic and playful approach for creating sustainable change.
I love to spend my free time outdoors, practicing yoga, dancing, cooking or hanging with my family.
